The Picture of Dorian Gray by Lowell Liebermann. This is a NPR
transmission from 2001 of the 1999 American premier of the opera.

Note: I recall that there is a transmission problem on one of the
final CDs. I don't remember exactly what the problem is, but I
believe the sound drops out for a minute or two. Otherwise, the
recording is very good.

I hope it will bring enjoyment.

Bernstein rehearses "Le Sacre du Printemps" (Salzau 1987)
from TV Classica with Italian subtitles.

For those not knowing were Salzau is (might be a lot of
people:-)). It's a small village in the middle of nowhere in
northern Germany. The Schleswig-Holstein Musik-Festival Orchester
(an every year new created orchestra of young musicians from all
over the world, which was founded in the middle of the 80ties by
Justus Frantz and Leonard Bernstein at the same time the festival
was founded) is doing its rehearsels there in an old country
estate.

Best regards - and a big thanks to the original uploader, for I
have heard Bernstein with that orchestra in concert.

Nicholas Clapton, countertenor and castrato historian, analyses the anatomical mysteries of the castrato and the biological implications of castrato. He travels to Bologna, the adopted home of Farinelli, perhaps the most famous castrato.

And for the first time in Britain, American male soprano Michael Maniaci, a young Baroque opera singer whose voice did not break at puberty, performs Mozart's Exultate Jubilate, a piece originally written for castrato Rauzzini.

"Renowned British composer Jonathan Dove returns to Channel 4 this Christmas, turning his attention to astronaut Buzz Aldrin and the first moon landing in 1969.

In July 1969, the American Apollo programme sent three men on a journey around the moon, landed two of them on the lunar surface and brought them all back safely to earth.

Man on the Moon is a brand new, one-off hour-long television opera with words by Nicholas Wright. It explores the complex story of lunar module pilot Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon.

This music drama recreates the fraught and heroic mission, and at the same time tells of the disintegration of the Aldrins' marriage, two years after the landing.
